Eric Scott Turner (born February 26, 1972) is an American politician and former professional football player who is serving as the 19th United States secretary of housing and urban development since February 2025. He played cornerback in the NFL. Turner served as Executive Director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council from 2019 to 2021 under President Donald Trump in the first Trump administration. Previously, Turner served as state representative for Texas's 33rd House district, which includes part of Collin County and all of Rockwall County, from 2013 to 2017. Before entering politics, Turner played cornerback in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. On November 22, 2024, President-elect Donald Trump announced his intent to nominate Turner as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the second Trump administration. Turner's nomination was confirmed by the United States Senate on February 5, 2025 by a vote of 55–44. Turner was sworn into office on February 5, 2025.
