Mary Sheffield

Mary Sheffield (born June 9, 1987) is an American politician who has served as a member of the Detroit City Council since 2014. A member of the Democratic Party, she was elected president of the city council in 2022 and is the youngest person ever to hold that office. She is currently the mayor-elect of Detroit, having defeated Solomon Kinloch in the 2025 election, and upon inauguration will be Detroit's first female mayor.
