This is a list of countries and dependencies by electricity generation from renewable sources. Renewables accounted for 32% of electric generation in 2024. Renewables consist of hydro (44%), wind (25%), solar (22%), biomass (6%) and other renewables (1%). In 2025 China produced 32% of global renewable electricity, followed by the United States (11%), Brazil (7 %), Canada (4 %) and India (4 %).
Renewable investment reached almost $500 billion globally in 2022, amounting to 83% of new electric capacity that year. The renewable energy industry employs almost 14 million people.
