Knives Out (film series)
Updated: Wikipedia source
Knives Out is a series of American murder mystery films written, directed, and co-produced by Rian Johnson. The films are led by Daniel Craig as private detective/investigator Benoit Blanc, involved with investigating those mysteries. Craig is backed by a large supporting cast ensemble, including Edward Norton, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Janelle Monáe, Josh O'Connor, Josh Brolin, and Dave Bautista, among others, with Johnson's closest collaborators Noah Segan and Joseph Gordon-Levitt appearing in small roles and cameos, respectively. The film series commenced in 2019 with Knives Out, which was met with critical acclaim, particularly for its screenplay, direction, and acting, from both audience and film critics. It grossed $311.4 million worldwide against a $40 million budget. After the first film's success, the streaming service Netflix bought the exclusive rights to two Knives Out sequels for over $400 million. The second film Glass Onion was also released to a positive critical reception in 2022, though its limited theatrical release led to a lower monetary performance. The third film, Wake Up Dead Man, began production in June 2024, and was released in November 2025. Each film in the franchise is named after a song by a rock band: "Knives Out" by Radiohead, "Glass Onion" by The Beatles, and "Wake Up Dead Man" by U2.
