Amir Hatem Mahdy Ali (born 1985) is an American lawyer and academic who is a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Before becoming a judge, Ali was a civil rights lawyer and a professor of U . constitutional law at Harvard Law School. As an advocate, he was known for his work on behalf of people who had been wrongfully convicted and prevailing in nearly every appeal he argued, including all of his arguments before the U . Supreme Court.
