45th Canadian Parliament

The 45th Canadian Parliament is the current legislative session of the Parliament of Canada, the legislative branch of the national government of Canada. The composition of its dominant component, the House of Commons, was determined by the 2025 federal election, held on April 28, 2025, during which the incumbent Liberals led by new leader Mark Carney was returned to government with a slightly improved minority mandate. The parliament's legislative session commenced on May 26, 2025, with the unprecedented event of a prime minister taking a seat in parliament for the first time. The 45th Parliament is currently in its first session:
