From May 11 to 13, 2026, the Senate of the Philippines was in disorder due to the sudden return of Senator Ronald dela Rosa, for whom the International Criminal Court (ICC) had issued an arrest warrant. On May 13, 2026, tensions escalated when gunfire was heard in the Senate during the attempted arrest of dela Rosa, coinciding with the transmission of the articles of impeachment of Sara Duterte to the Senate. The next morning, he left the Senate premises.
