2026 Ohio gubernatorial election

The 2026 Ohio gubernatorial election will be held on November 3, 2026, to elect the governor of Ohio. Incumbent Republican governor Mike DeWine is ineligible to seek re-election to a third consecutive term. Primary elections were held on May 5, with Acton winning unopposed and Ramaswamy winning with only nominal opposition. Democrats have not won a gubernatorial election in Ohio since 2006, nor a partisan statewide race since 2018. If elected, Ramaswamy would become the first Indian-American and Hindu governor of Ohio, while if Acton is elected, she would become the first woman elected governor, and would be the state's first Jewish governor. The winner of the election will be inaugurated on January 11, 2027.
